Believers Medical Journal (BeMJ) is committed to preserving the accuracy, integrity, accessibility, and continuity of the scholarly record. Post-publication action may be necessary to correct genuine errors, clarify important information, address unreliable findings, or respond to substantiated concerns involving research or publication practices.
This policy is informed by relevant Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Retraction Guidelines and Core Practices, terminology concerning versions of journal articles, and transparency principles reflected in Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) criteria. All post-publication actions are considered according to the nature, significance, and potential effect of the identified issue.
A correction may be published when an error affects the accuracy, clarity, attribution, or metadata of an article but does not invalidate its principal findings or conclusions.
A Corrigendum may be issued to correct a material error originating from the authors when the error does not invalidate the central findings of the article.
An Erratum may be issued to correct a material production, formatting, typesetting, or publication error introduced during the journal's publication process.
An Addendum may be published when additional information or clarification is necessary to support accurate interpretation of the original article.
Material corrections involving author names, affiliations, funding information, declarations, tables, figures, or article metadata may also be published when editorially justified.
Retraction may be considered when the findings or publication history of an article are substantially unreliable, or when serious ethical or publication concerns have been established.
Potential grounds include:
Post-publication concerns are assessed confidentially and impartially in accordance with applicable journal procedures and relevant COPE guidance.
Authors may be asked to provide explanations, original data, ethics documentation, image files, or other supporting evidence. Where appropriate, independent experts or relevant institutions may also be consulted.
An Expression of Concern may be published when credible concerns require readers to be alerted but the available evidence remains inconclusive, an investigation is still ongoing, or a responsible institution has not yet reached or communicated a definitive outcome.
An Expression of Concern does not by itself establish that the published findings are unreliable.
Retracted articles will normally remain accessible as part of the scholarly record and will be clearly identified as retracted on the article landing page and, where applicable, in the article files.
A separate Retraction Notice will explain the reason for the retraction and will be linked to the affected article. Where applicable, relevant publication metadata will be updated and appropriate indexing or abstracting services may be notified.
Removal of published content will be considered only in exceptional circumstances, such as:
Where legally and ethically possible, the article landing page and bibliographic metadata will remain available together with a clear removal notice explaining the reason for the action.
Believers Medical Journal (BeMJ) manages corrections, retractions, Expressions of Concern, and exceptional content-removal decisions in accordance with its editorial policies and relevant COPE guidance.
This policy is reviewed periodically and may be updated when necessary to reflect developments in scholarly publishing practices, journal procedures, and transparency standards.
Believers Medical Journal (BeMJ) may publish corrections, addenda, Expressions of Concern, retractions, or removal notices when reasonably necessary to preserve the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. Such decisions are made following appropriate editorial assessment and in accordance with relevant journal procedures and publication-ethics guidance.
