Believers Medical Journal (BeMJ) is committed to maintaining the accessibility, integrity, authenticity, and continuity of its published scholarly record. The journal recognizes that effective digital preservation requires both reliable operational backup and recovery practices and, where established, an independently managed external preservation arrangement.
BeMJ maintains operational safeguards for its website, published articles, publication metadata, and related editorial records. The journal also seeks to establish appropriate external preservation arrangements for its scholarly content. Until an external preservation service is formally activated, eligible content has been deposited, and the arrangement can be independently verified, BeMJ does not claim active participation in an external long-term preservation network or service.
This policy is intended to support the continued availability, authenticity, integrity, and usability of published articles and their associated metadata. Preservation planning helps reduce the risk of permanent content loss arising from:
BeMJ maintains operational measures designed to support the protection, maintenance, and recovery of its published content and associated records.
Operational backup, website management, and technical recovery measures support continuity of journal operations but should not be considered equivalent to an independently managed long-term digital preservation service.
BeMJ will update this policy when an external preservation arrangement becomes operational and independently verifiable. Where applicable, such an update may identify the preservation service, activation date, preservation coverage, deposit status, and available verification information.
BeMJ uses internal safeguards intended to reduce the risk of data loss and facilitate the recovery of website and publication content. These operational measures complement, but do not replace, independent long-term preservation arrangements.
Copies of published article files and relevant website publication assets are maintained through routine backup and recovery procedures.
Publication metadata, author and affiliation information, issue records, editorial information, and other relevant publication details are included within routine data backup procedures.
Backup and recovery procedures are periodically reviewed to identify potential missing files, damaged content, database inconsistencies, and broken public-access links.
Preservation planning covers the published scholarly record and associated materials, including:
Where applicable, permanent editorial notices such as corrections, retractions, Expressions of Concern, and withdrawal or removal notices are also treated as part of the publication record.
BeMJ maintains bibliographic metadata associated with published articles, including, where applicable:
Persistent identifiers such as Crossref-registered DOIs may support article identification, citation, linking, and discovery when successfully registered. DOI registration and metadata deposits are not considered substitutes for an independent long-term digital preservation service.
Authors may retain and archive their submitted manuscripts, accepted manuscripts, and published Versions of Record through appropriate institutional repositories, disciplinary repositories, funder-designated repositories, scholarly sharing platforms, or personal academic webpages, subject to the licensing, attribution, and reuse conditions associated with the published article.
BeMJ does not impose an embargo on author self-archiving under this policy.
Authors remain responsible for retaining underlying research data in accordance with applicable institutional, funder, legal, ethical, and disciplinary requirements.
Where appropriate and ethically permissible, authors are encouraged to deposit non-sensitive research data in a suitable repository and provide an accurate Data Availability Statement with their published article.
If BeMJ ceases publication, the journal will make reasonable efforts to preserve its publicly accessible scholarly archive, maintain article landing pages where practicable, and facilitate the transfer of eligible published content and associated metadata to an appropriate independent preservation service, repository, or successor platform.
Permanent availability after journal discontinuation cannot be guaranteed solely through operational backups or technical content management. A definitive continuity statement will be issued only when an appropriate external preservation arrangement has become operational and can be independently verified.
This policy will be reviewed periodically and updated when the journal's digital preservation arrangements change.
BeMJ will identify participation in an external preservation service only after relevant eligible content has been deposited, successfully processed, and independently verified.
Technical eligibility, registration, an intended future preservation arrangement, routine backups, or preservation-related software alone do not establish active long-term digital preservation.
Believers Medical Journal (BeMJ) maintains operational safeguards for its website, published scholarly content, publication metadata, and related records. These measures support routine administration, backup, maintenance, and technical recovery but are not presented as independently verified long-term preservation of the journal's published scholarly record. BeMJ will provide updated preservation information when an external preservation arrangement becomes operational and independently verifiable.
